In this thread, I will have an example Model I will be replacing, backing up the model I am replacing first.
I will open LOD Editor, and find the model I would like to replace. In this example I will be replacing the F-14B External Model. For this example, I will only be replacing/backing up LOD1.
Firstly, I will find the "Parent: number for the model. In this case it is Parent 649. I will enter 649 into the parent field, or use the menu on the right to find the model.

Click on the "Normal" button and you should see this:

Now we will "Export" for backup our original model. We will "click" the button labeled "Edit" until it says "Export" like this:

You will now be asked where to save the LOD. Click on the #1 under export.
Now we will replace our model. Click "Export" until it reads "Replace". You should see this:

Now we will click the #1 under "Replace" and find on our HDD the location of the model we want to replace with. If the model we are replacing has Switches/DoF's, then we will enter 255 for both values. 255 is the MAX. number of DoF's and Switches a model can have on it, so we will max them out in most cases.
